A Grand Celebration of Independence and Flexibility
In the spirit of honoring India’s 15th August Independence Day in 2023, the GMS Yoga Center in Aavadi orchestrated an extraordinary event that would be etched in memory — the “Flexible India Challenge.” This celebration brought together a diverse array of individuals, each proudly demonstrating their exceptional yoga capabilities. The event unfolded as a magnificent spectacle, captivating all who had the privilege to witness it.
Unity in Motion: The Chakrasana Ensemble
Amidst the myriad of awe-inspiring displays, one collective accomplishment stood out prominently. A group of 20 individuals, representing both genders, united in a harmonious display of synchronization and determination. With elegant grace, they embarked on a captivating journey of bending their entire bodies in unison, flawlessly executing the Chakrasana yoga pose. Beyond the breathtaking display of flexibility, this synchronized performance symbolized unity and harmony, echoing the essence of India’s independence.
Showcasing Individual Mastery
The event’s brilliance extended to the spotlight on eight exceptional students, each a maestro in their own right. Dharani, a paragon of poise and strength, embarked on a 35-minute journey atop her head, mastering the Sirasasana, popularly known as the Headstand. Pooja’s unwavering dedication shone as she gracefully sustained the Virukasana, or Hero Pose, for an astonishing hour-long duration.
Masterful Performances: Naveen, Ajay, and Hasini
The audience was further enthralled by the remarkable yoga prowess of Naveen, Ajay, and Hasini. Naveen’s 25-minute execution of the Chakrasana highlighted his exceptional control and flexibility. Ajay’s 10-minute Urdhauva Kukkudaasana, reminiscent of an upward-facing rooster, showcased his balance and physical strength in remarkable fashion. Hasini’s elegant 4-minute performance of the Gendabrendasana left onlookers in awe, a true testament to her agility and grace.
- Chakrasana Performance: 20 male and female students participated and simultaneously performed Chakrasana, a yoga pose that involves bending the entire body.

- Dharani performed Sirasasana (Headstand) for 35 minutes.
- Pooja performed Virukasana (Hero Pose) for 1 hour.
- Naveen performed Chakrasana for 25 minutes.
- Ajay performed Urdhauva Kukkudaasana (Upward Rooster Pose) for 10 minutes.
- Hasini performed Gendabrendasana for 4 minutes.

The official record, engraved as NWR-2023-1068, was officially documented on the 15th of August 2023 in the prestigious Nova Book.
