In a world where the young generation is increasingly captivated by screens and digital devices, there
are shining stars like Lithika J who are breaking the norm and embracing the ancient practice of yoga
at a tender age. At just 5 years and 10 months old, Lithika, a 1st grader at Dayasadan Agarwal
Vidyalaya (DSAV), is making waves in the world of yoga. Her journey into the realm of yoga began at
the Bodhi Yoga Academy under the guidance of her mentor, Dr. M. Sathish Kumar.

Early Beginnings:
What’s truly remarkable is that Lithika embarked on her yoga journey at the incredibly young age of
2 years and 5 months, entirely on her own initiative. It was a testament to her innate curiosity and
passion for this ancient discipline.


The Asana that Shines: Purna Bhujangasana:
One of Lithika’s signature poses is the Purna Bhujangasana, or the Full Cobra Pose, which requires
great flexibility and strength. This asana showcases her dedication and hard work, resulting in
exceptional mastery at such a young age.


A Trail of Achievements:
Lithika’s journey in yoga is studded with numerous achievements that belie her age. She has already
participated in prestigious competitions and garnered several accolades:

  • 2nd National Level Yogasana Championship 2022: 3rd place in the Special (Backward Bend) category
    for 3-5 years old.
  • South Asian Open Yoga Championship 2022: 1st place in the Special (Backward Bend) category for
    under 8.
  • 50 Rounds of Surya Namaskar: 1st place.
  • South India Yogasana Championship 2023: 1st place in the Special (Backward Bend) category for
    below 6, and 3rd place in the Common category.
  • 9th International Yoga Fest – 2023: 2nd place in the 3-5 years old Common category.
  • 11th TamilNadu State Yoga Competition 2023: 2nd place in the Below 6 Common category, and 4th
    place in the Championship category.
  • 17th Yoga Pradharshan – South India 2023: 1st place in Below 5 Common, Special (Backward Bend),
    and Special (Leg Balance) categories.
  • South India Yogasana Open Championship – 2023: 1st place in the 3-5 years old Common category
    and Special (Backward Bend) category.

  • 3rd Chengalpattu District Yogasana Championship – 2023: 1st place in Below 6 Common and Special
    (Backward Bend) categories.
  • 10th Inter District Yogasana Championship – 2023: 1st place in Below 6 Common category.
  • Setting Records:
    Lithika’s dedication and perseverance have led to setting two impressive records:
  • Surya Namaskar – 23 Minutes (Group Record) – NOVA WORLD RECORD at the age of 5 years and 9
    months.
  • Purna Salabhasana on Glass Teapoy – 3 Minutes 15 Seconds (Individual Record) – NOVA WORLD
    RECORD at the age of 5 years and 10 months.
  • The Role of Supportive Parents:
    Behind every young achiever is a strong support system. Lithika’s journey in yoga wouldn’t have been
    possible without the unwavering support of her parents. Her mother, Moniga, and father,
    Jayachandran, have been pillars of encouragement, nurturing her passion for yoga.

    Lithika’s incredible achievements in yoga are a testament not only to her dedication but also to the
