SRM NCC Cadets Make History with Nova World Record!

Tamil Nadu, March 17, 2025 – The NCC cadets of SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST) have made history by achieving a Nova World Record for the fastest completion of 2025 gun firings. This extraordinary feat stands as a testament to their discipline, teamwork, and commitment to raising awareness against drug abuse.

A Record-Breaking Event

The event was inaugurated by Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, who delivered an inspirational address, encouraging the cadets to uphold their values of discipline and social responsibility.

Under the guidance of Capt. P. Jekan (NCC Officer, Army Wing) and Sub Lt. Dr. G. B. Sakthi Prasath (NCC Officer, Navy Wing), the cadets fired 2025 bullets over 2 hours and 9 minutes. Each bullet symbolized their strong stance against drug abuse, reinforcing the “Say No to Drugs” initiative.

Strength in Unity

A total of 57 cadets participated in this historic event:

  • Final Year: 9 students (7 Navy, 1 Army)
  • Second Year: 22 students (7 Navy, 15 Army)
  • First Year: 26 students (11 Navy, 15 Army)

Their precision, endurance, and commitment ensured the seamless execution of this record-setting attempt.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including:

  • Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST
  • Dr. Leenus Jesu Martin M, Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SRMIST
  • Dr. Gopal T V, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST (Valedictory Speaker)
  • Prof. Mohana Krishnan R, Director, Directorate of Sports, SRMIST
  • Dr. Lakshmanan T, NCC Advisor, SRMIST
  • Capt. P. Jekan, NCC Officer (Army Wing)
  • Sub Lt. Dr. G. B. Sakthi Prasath, NCC Officer (Navy Wing)

Recognition & Honor

During the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Gopal T V, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST, received the Nova Award in the presence of esteemed faculty and NCC officers.

The Nova World Records team, represented by Rajkumar Natarajan (Chief Editor) and Mr. Prabakaran (State Adjudicator), officially presented the Nova World Records Certificate of Honor to the NCC cadets.
