SRM University Makes History with Dual Nova World Records

The esteemed SRM Institute of Science & Technology, situated in SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by clinching two significant records in the prestigious Nova Book of World Records, all on the same remarkable day. Orchestrated under the supervision of the Directorate of Sports and the Department of Yoga, these remarkable achievements underscore the university’s unwavering commitment to shedding light on critical societal concerns.

Event 1: Marathon Yoga for Anti-Drug Awareness

In an unparalleled display of endurance and devotion, a cohort of eighty-four (84) students from SRM IST participated in a grueling 24-hour yoga marathon. This groundbreaking feat, acknowledged as the “Longest Yoga Marathon,” not only showcased the participants’ exceptional yoga prowess but also stood as a bold assertion against the menace of drug abuse. The unbroken practice of yoga by these students for an entire day serves as a testament to their dedication to promoting a healthier, drug-free society.

Esteemed Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, the Chancellor and Founder of the SRM Group, has taken a significant step in the ongoing battle against drugs. He has initiated a mass pledge and signature campaign aimed at raising awareness and rallying support against the scourge of drug abuse.

Event 2: Mass Pledge and Signature Campaign Against Drugs

Highlighting the potency of collective action, an astounding 5084 students from SRMIST united to take a solemn pledge and actively engage in a signature campaign against drug abuse. This remarkable event unfolded on the 23rd and 24th of August 2023, presenting a resounding declaration of the university’s unwavering stance against drugs. By involving such a substantial number of students in this initiative, SRMIST effectively conveyed the message that combating drugs is a shared obligation necessitating unified endeavors.
